Are National Entitlement Cards (NEC) accepted for travel?

Modified on Sun, 24 May at 11:41 AM

National Entitlement Cards (NEC) and Under 22 Young Scot Cards are accepted on all Scottish Citylink services within Scotland, allowing you to travel for free.

Concession cards are only valid for travel within Scotland and can’t be used on services that travel outside Scotland, such as journeys to Belfast or Blackpool.

While your travel itself is free, if you choose to prebook online, a booking fee will apply. Additional items, such as seat reservations or extra luggage, are also chargeable.

NEC and Young Scot Cards are not valid on special services, including Christmas Day services or eventspecific travel.

If you have a Young Scot Card and are aged 22-25, you can get discounts on our services.

If you’re unsure whether your card will be valid for a particular journey, our team will be happy to help before you travel.
